As we continue an exciting and impactful year, the Women’s Council of REALTORS® Austin is looking ahead to one of our most important events — our 2027 Board Elections. This is more than a routine item on our chapter calendar. It is the moment when our network chooses the leaders who will carry our mission forward, set our priorities and represent our members.
We encourage all of our members to get involved, whether that means casting a vote, nominating a colleague or stepping forward to run for a leadership role. Elections are one of the clearest expressions of what makes Women’s Council special: a network built by members, for members, where leadership opportunities are open to anyone willing to invest their time and talent. The Women’s Council has always been built on strong leadership, collaboration and a commitment to elevating our members, and we look forward to welcoming the next group of dedicated leaders who will help write the next chapter of our story.
Serving in a Women’s Council leadership role is also one of the most effective ways to grow professionally. Board members gain firsthand experience in strategic planning, budgeting, event execution and public representation of the organization — skills that translate directly into stronger real estate careers. As we approach 2027, we hope every member will consider what role they might play, whether that’s a committee chair position, a board seat or simply showing up to vote and support the process.
We are also excited to share highlights from our recent trip to the National Association of REALTORS® Legislative Meetings and the Women’s Council of REALTORS® national events in Washington, D.C. Several of our Austin members had the opportunity to attend educational sessions led by industry experts, gaining valuable insights into the latest trends, leadership strategies and issues impacting real estate professionals across the country.
These national gatherings offer a rare chance to step outside the day-to-day rhythm of local business and see the bigger picture — how policy decisions made hundreds of miles away can ripple down to affect transactions, listings and clients right here in Central Texas. Sessions covered a wide range of topics, from emerging market trends and technology shifts to leadership development frameworks designed to help REALTORS® grow into stronger advocates and business owners. For many of our members, these few days in the nation’s capital served as both an education and a reminder of why national engagement matters.
One of the most meaningful experiences was visiting Capitol Hill to meet with congressional offices and advocate on behalf of homeowners, property rights and the real estate industry in Texas. These conversations focused on legislative priorities affecting homeownership, housing affordability and the future of our profession.
Sitting down with congressional staff is not a ceremonial exercise — it is an opportunity to put a face and a voice behind the issues that affect our clients every day. From housing affordability to protections for property owners, our members carried forward the concerns of REALTORS® across Central Texas and made sure those concerns were heard by the people writing the laws that shape our industry. It was an honor to represent both our members and the clients we serve while helping ensure that the voice of Texas real estate professionals is heard in Congress.
Experiences like these remind us that the Women’s Council of REALTORS® is about so much more than networking. It is about developing leaders, staying informed, advocating for our communities and making a meaningful impact both locally and nationally. Every educational session attended, every conversation held with a lawmaker and every vote cast in a board election adds up to a stronger organization — one capable of shaping the future of our profession rather than simply reacting to it.
As we look toward the months ahead, we are proud of the members who represented Austin so well in Washington, D.C., and we are energized by what lies ahead with our 2027 Board Elections. We look forward to seeing everyone at our upcoming Board Elections and continuing to grow, lead and serve together as we build an even stronger 2027.
Get involved. Cast your vote. Consider stepping into a leadership role. The future of the Women’s Council of REALTORS® Austin is shaped by members who show up — and we hope that includes you.
